Char Koay Teow

CharKoayTeow (CKT) has been my all time favourite. I can take it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or even supper!

I am so used to Penang’s CKT that I always condemn CKT from elsewhere. It’s so hard to find a Penang CKT’s standard outside Penang. So far, I find none. That’s why everytime I come back Penang, I always eat CKT for my first meal!

Ah Leng CKT (Special - With 5 giant prawns and mantis meat)RM8.50 per plate

So far, my favourite CKT is not the famous Lorong Selamat CKT, not Sister’s CKT, also not Ah Leng’s CKT. My favourite CKT is situated in Kg Jawa, a small kopitiam 2 shopa away from Public Bank.

I don’t take clam, dislikes Chinese sausage, loves spicy, a lot. So everytime my order will be “Only prawns, more chili”.

The prawns here are big, and salty (marinated). A plate of CKT only consists of 2 big prawns, which keeps you me coming back for more. The CKT over here is a bit on the wet side, so I don’t recommend this to those who likes super dry CKT.

The Koay Teow here isn’t those thin fine (Sister’s CKT uses this) type, it’s slightly thick, to prevent the koay teows from breaking into small pieces. At the same time, the CKT is wet enough to let the koay teow absorb the dried gravy.

The funny part is that the CKT seller always serves the noodle like a small mountain on the side of the plate, which makes you think that the koay teow is very little. But after you finish the koay teow, it’s filling you see!

I’ve brought many of my friends here for breakfast CKT, and many of them loves it! If you love CKT, give this a try. It may become your next favourite CKT stall.
