Dining @ WaZen Japanese Restaurant, Melaka.

Japanese Restaurants in Melaka opens one after another, as if all of them are making great profit (I wonder), but undeniable, there are a lot of Japanese es patriots working over here in Melaka, and to be honest, we locals like Japanese food too!

The exterior of Wa Zen.

WaZen is one of the newly opened japanese restaurant situated in Melaka Raya right beside East Garden Restaurant where we found out from the menu that the price isn’t really as cutthroat as the others. So we decided to give it a try.

The interior of WaZen.

We (Mapo, Fenn, LWL, and I) were hungry, real hungry. Apart from the set meals, we ordered quite a number of side dishes just to fill up our dark hole in the stomach.

Raw salmon for me and Fenn. When this plate come, only I realise how much I missed salmon. I missed those time when I can take unlimited pieces of fresh salmon in Rasa Sayang buffet. The price, 5 pieces of raw salmon @ RM12.

wzz13.jpg

5 thick pieces of salmon. Slrrrp!

Soft Shell Crab Temaki for me, and Salmon Skin Temaki for Fenn. Damn delicious, 100x nicer then the one in Sushi King.

wzz3.jpg

Love the temaki!

Mapo ordered the japanese egg, which I am not a fan of. She claims that the egg is superb, but I still prefer my old grandma style of fried egg LOL!

wzz9.jpg

Egg, eggie, egg, eggie..

As for our main dish, I ordered the most simple Japanese Teriyaki Chicken Set @ RM12.90.

wzz8.jpg

Alightly burned outside, but tender inside.

Fenn had Salmon @ RM14.90, and Mapo had Japanese Fried Chicken @ 12.90 while LWL had his usual favourite Unagi @ RM19.90.

Thick Salmon.

A fried dried chicken.

wzz11.jpg

Deliciously ever Unagi.

It all comes in a set which consists of a bowl of rice, steam egg, miso soup, a bowl of salad and 2 slices of watermelon.

wzz1.jpg

It’s called a SET!

Man I have to praise the steam egg, which is really really smooth, as smooth as my fair skin Ipoh Taohua if not smoother.

Smooth Steam Eggie..

Overall the food was ok, nothing special to be shout of, and the price was satisfying.

One thing I dislike on WaZen is the stupid cigarette smoke when there are customers smoking. I notice that most of the Japanese Restaurants allow the patrons to smoke inside the restaurant, which I feel annoyed! Shouldn’t patrons smoke outside the restaurant??

Anyhow, the smell came when we were almost finishing the food. Thank god for that.

Who wants to treat me Sakae?

Ask me whether will I visit WaZen again? Herm that’s a tough question. The food was not bad, but there’s just nothing so special that will make me miss’em.

Perhaps you could try on the other items on the menu and let me know their specialty.

p/s : Photos are from Fenn’s camera. Credits to Fenn, and her camera. LOL!
