You share or you show?

I wonder how many of you guys know the difference between “sharing your happiness” and “showing off”. One thing I know, many of my friends, including myself sometimes could give the wrong signal to people. When we are sharing our happiness, our great experience, listeners tends to hear it as if we are showing off to them.

“Sharing your happiness” is something you are very glad that you achieved, something that you would like to share the happiness with your friends.

“Showing off” is something that you’ve have or own, and you just want the whole world to know how great you are.

Any idea why your listener sometimes reply you back only with “Wow.”, “Oh..”, “Ok…” instead of asking more details about your story? It’s either your story is not interesting enough, or your listeners think that you are showing off to them and they don’t intend to join in the fun that you are enjoying ALONE.

“Sharing your happiness” might turn into “Showing off” when :

• the listener is biased to you.
• your own attitude problem.
• you don’t know how to tell stories in a correct way.
• you “bombed” away too much off the reality street.

Honestly, I hate those people who keeps on showing off to people around them. I would rather their mouth being sewed up!
To those who keeps on showing off, I advice you better stop, cause you don’t know when will your friends start to boycott you, your colleague starts to goes off lunch without you, and your close friends stopped calling you for chat. You must know that your friends are smart enough to differentiate your smile is from your heart of from your brain (fake smile).

To those who likes to share their happiness but you have a feeling that your friends felt that you are showing off, try to talk and share your story/experience more sincerely. Don’t extra exaggerate anymore on your story cause it will sound fake!

Ok.. I just forgotten how come I ended up writing this kind of passage.
