Well, we decided to reward ourself after all our hard work, and also the 90minutes of nervous period by re-visiting the lovely Teo Soon Long Chan.
It wasn’t hard to reach the place with LWL’s good navigation. It was almost 1.30pm, and shockingly we were the only customer, again, which made me thinking whether is the place really still that popular or not.
To satisfy our charbo needs, we ordered again the oyster noodles, which is really their house specialty. It’s basically the best oyster noodles I’ve had. The oyster were especially fresh, and juicy. (Damn I am drooling while writing this.. -.-)
Big juicy oyster..
As we are really on a tight budget, we didn’t order crabs this time. Instead, we ordered soft shell crabs, which are so much cheaper lolz! The crabs were deep fried until crispy, then served with sweet sauce. However I am not a fan of sweet sauce, I dip the crab with one of the sour sauce, which tasted so much better.
Deep fried soft shell crabs.
The kangkung belacan we ordered didn’t taste good. I don’t know how in the end this dish tasted sweet, and I don’t like it. In fact, we thought that it’s hard to find simple kangkung belacan to meet the standard from Penang. Sad.
Kangkung Belacan.
Drunk prawns. Now this is something special where the chef recommended us. It’s actually prawns cooked in the soup together with mushrooms, ginger slices, and some chinese herbs. I don’t know what it’s called in english, but I know it’s from the ginseng family. Any idea?
Big bowl of soup, just nice for the three of us.
The prawns was normal but the soup was perfect. It’s not too thick, yet not too plain. The soup had the right amount of herb, prawns sweetness, and also cooking alcohol. It’s GOOD!
See the herbs? Identify it!
Well, a meal isn’t a meal until it is ended with a dessert. At Teo Soon Long Chan, they have the yam paste for you to die for.
Yam dessert with steam pumpkin and ginko.
If not mistaken, they have those easy pack for sale in Supermarkets (I don’t know which one. Carrefour maybe?) and also they do export this yam dessert to Singapore. Spot it. Of course, fresh ones taste so much better.
Drooling aren’t you?
Shockingly, the price was at a reasonable RM88 for the three of us. Gladly we paid and went to have a walk in Jonker.
Interested to know how typical teo chews they are? See how they hang their shorts/singlets/underwear. It’s IN the shop, right in front of the table behind the counter. Great.
Typical.. Real typical..
Something scary happened while we were walking around Jonker Street, but that’s gonna wait till the next post.
Heehe.

My days got jumbled up.
I thought today was the-resting-Sunday, and I was quite relax over myself.
I woke up late. I read on blogs before doing my FYP. I surfed the net, a lot. (because my housemate isn’t awake yet, and I went and unplug his cable to disconnects his download that unables me to even open a website!). AND I updated my blog!
It’s now Monday, means there’s only a week left for me to WRITE OUT MY SOFTWARE!
So, quick post!
—————
Genki Kitchen, another localize japanese restaurant.
Before the Bengs and Lalas arrive.
Same old black wood table and chairs.
This restaurant did localize the food until it’s almost an ordinary food, with a cheap price (about RM7 for a meal). And I think because of this reason, many old folks, youngsters (secondary school students, Lalas & Bengs) like to dine there as they think that they are eating classy japanese food in a reasonable price. Yah I think they thought so.
Spicy Chicken rice.
Tempura prawn rice.
Deep Fried Chicken Rice.
I have only one comment on the food. It all tasted so so average, or somewhere below average, like a local food not a japanese food. The food aren’t worth a try.
One thing that annoyed me is the customers they target. Those youngsters are making the shop so noisy, and smelly (with their uniforms or shirt that didn’t wash for a thousand years), and the old people for being so unreasonable when ordering (I want this without this and add that can?)
Ask me if I am visiting back? Hell no! I don’t want to smell like an ahBeng when I come out. -.-

My mum went back to Penang already.
Yepp, my weekend was busy with entertaining my mum, brother, uncles, aunties, and cousins as they are over here in Melaka for the weekend until this morning, which explains the lack of updates over the weekend.
Anyway, remember my Top 10 Melaka food list? Well, here’s gonna be another 3 for you.
4. Porridge

A big pot of boiling porridge.
The porridge is smooth, and has very strong aroma from all kinds of “stuffs”. Stuffs, I mean chicken giblet, pork liver, egg, century egg, AND OTHERS which I can’t figure out. Other then that, they have deep fried prawn wanton, and charsiew.
5. Chendol
Look at the sweet sweet sugar..
The nice chendol is situated in Jonker street. What makes the chendol special is the “gula Melaka” they used together with the Santan and Durian paste (for durian flavoured chendol). We ain’t gonna get this chendol any place outside Melaka.
6. Yam paste
Definitely a nice dessert suitable for all ages.
Well, this is a Teochew dessert. I know there are a lot of “add-water-to-eat” packing but don’t let the stupid ready made dessert spoil it. Go Teo Soon Long Chan and order one, you will know how yam paste really taste like! Also, the oyster mee taste very good.
If you are interested to know more details about the foods, feel free to leave a comment, or email me if you wanna talk in private.

I am a glutton. I love to explore for foods served only in some particular place.
I am lucky enough to be able to explore the infamous Melaka food, and I found some REAL good ones.
Due to time constraints, I have only time to post up few. Hope you don’t mind I break this into a few parts.
1. Lois BeefKuTeh
The beef will go cook after you dip it inside the hot soup.
Situated at Bukit Baru. It’s normal we see BaKuTeh but have you ever seen BeefKuTeh? Have you ever tasted it? If not, you better do so cause I don’t know how long will the old uncle will still be selling..
2. Mille Crepe
Layers and layers of fats cream
Despite the main baker left Nadeje Patisserie, the cake still tastes fine to me. For more info on the cake, read it from Jason. One thing I am sure, most girls love the cake! They say the cake will bring you to heaven. LOL!
3. WoknPan BBQ Pork Chop
Love the pork, love the potato!
I have never seen a nice pork chop being marinated so nice and soft. I tried many pork chops from many places before, but all were super duper HARD! You’ve gonna try this if you are visiting Melaka.
That’s 3 good food I can only get it from Melaka.
Will update the rest some time soon..

Japanese Restaurants in Melaka opens one after another, as if all of them are making great profit (I wonder), but undeniable, there are a lot of Japanese es patriots working over here in Melaka, and to be honest, we locals like Japanese food too!
The exterior of Wa Zen.
WaZen is one of the newly opened japanese restaurant situated in Melaka Raya right beside East Garden Restaurant where we found out from the menu that the price isn’t really as cutthroat as the others. So we decided to give it a try.
The interior of WaZen.
We (Mapo, Fenn, LWL, and I) were hungry, real hungry. Apart from the set meals, we ordered quite a number of side dishes just to fill up our dark hole in the stomach.
Raw salmon for me and Fenn. When this plate come, only I realise how much I missed salmon. I missed those time when I can take unlimited pieces of fresh salmon in Rasa Sayang buffet. The price, 5 pieces of raw salmon @ RM12.
5 thick pieces of salmon. Slrrrp!
Soft Shell Crab Temaki for me, and Salmon Skin Temaki for Fenn. Damn delicious, 100x nicer then the one in Sushi King.
Love the temaki!
Mapo ordered the japanese egg, which I am not a fan of. She claims that the egg is superb, but I still prefer my old grandma style of fried egg LOL!
Egg, eggie, egg, eggie..
As for our main dish, I ordered the most simple Japanese Teriyaki Chicken Set @ RM12.90.
Alightly burned outside, but tender inside.
Fenn had Salmon @ RM14.90, and Mapo had Japanese Fried Chicken @ 12.90 while LWL had his usual favourite Unagi @ RM19.90.
Thick Salmon.
A fried dried chicken.
Deliciously ever Unagi.
It all comes in a set which consists of a bowl of rice, steam egg, miso soup, a bowl of salad and 2 slices of watermelon.
It’s called a SET!
Man I have to praise the steam egg, which is really really smooth, as smooth as my fair skin Ipoh Taohua if not smoother.
Smooth Steam Eggie..
Overall the food was ok, nothing special to be shout of, and the price was satisfying.
One thing I dislike on WaZen is the stupid cigarette smoke when there are customers smoking. I notice that most of the Japanese Restaurants allow the patrons to smoke inside the restaurant, which I feel annoyed! Shouldn’t patrons smoke outside the restaurant??
Anyhow, the smell came when we were almost finishing the food. Thank god for that.
Who wants to treat me Sakae?
Ask me whether will I visit WaZen again? Herm that’s a tough question. The food was not bad, but there’s just nothing so special that will make me miss’em.
Perhaps you could try on the other items on the menu and let me know their specialty.
p/s : Photos are from Fenn’s camera. Credits to Fenn, and her camera. LOL!

Having breakfast here over in Melaka for my university life has been rare. Not that I couldn’t wake up, the reason is that I couldn’t find friends (drivers) who can wake up early enough to have breakfast with me, not until I have my car.
This early morning, Ser and LWL joined me for breakfast @ KFC, the breakfast that I’ve always wanted to try.
Personally I didn’t expect much from KFC due the the boringness impression that KFC had given me, but after this breakfast, I thought that KFC wasn’t as bad.
I ordered a KFC “Nasi Lemak Enak”. The rice was not bad, but the sambal was too fine and not spicy at all, probably it’s because they need consistency in all the KFC branches and can’t get those old makcik makcik (auntie in Malay) to prepare deliciously hot and spicy sambal.
Typical Malaysian breakfast.
For the price of RM7.04 (add a piece of chicken), it’s not worth it. Might as well eat at any road side mamak stall.
Ser ordered the KFC Egg Wrap, and he totally recommended me to try on that.
A Nasi Lemak isn’t enough to fill up my dark hole, I reckon and ordered another KFC Egg Wrap. It looked so similar to those Roti Canai served at those mamak stall. It’s a thick fried egg, slices of chicken burger, and lettuce wrapped with a hot pita bread, topped with mayonnaise and cheese.
Roti Canai with the KFC wrapper. LOL!
Cheesy cheese!!!
It tasted AWESOME! I love it a lot, and it’s really filling.
Real thick eggs inside.
Every single bite there’s cheese sticking onto my mouth, with the chicken and egg just enough to make a nutritious breakfast. *recommended*
My housemate, LWL ordered the KFC Sausage combo, which comes with 2 sausages, squared scramble egg, mashed potato and a bun. It was a pretty normal set, nothing much to comment about.
Simple, and healthy.
Of course, all the sets comes with a choice of Tea and Coffee.
Teh’O satu!
What I like about the KFC breakfast :
What I dislike about KFC breakfast :
Anyhow, if you haven’t tried KFC Breakfast, you should have a try.
In my opinion, the breakfast in KFC is even healthier then the breakfast in McDonalds. What do you think ?

Ipoh has always gave people an impression of relaxing, and slow paced life.
Before new year, AhKam brought me and Irene to an old restaurant, FMS Bar and Restaurant for a western dinner. When he said old, I didn’t know that he really meant it, until I saw the shop.
FMS Bar & Restaurant, 1906.
Wow, it’s really old. When looking from outside, who would know that this is a restaurant serving western food, at all.
The restaurant was built in year 1906, and it was operated until NOW! The restaurant is freaking 102 years old you notice?? Your grandparents might have heard about it LOL!
I love the cowboy door!!
The restaurant has no aircond, only installed with a lot of old fashioned fans by the wall, and also on the ceiling. By the way, look at that ceiling, I thought it was really authentic.
Please let me know if there’s anywhere else that is with this kind of ceiling.
One thing special about this shop is you don’t see any waitress with sexy uniform. In contrast, you see an old lady with those dark flowery clothes where your grandma would wear it at home with a pair of rubber shoes you can get in pasar malam for RM5 a pair digging her nose rubbing her toes serving you.
AhKam and Irene chatting in FMS.
As of our budget, there isn’t much choice for our dinner.
I picked lamb chop as my main meal, and AhKam and Irene had chicken. Our meal comes with a bowl of soup and a butter bun.
I had the tomato soup. It was slightly weird for the first mouth, but after few sip, the soup was awesome (basically the best item they had. Read on and you will know why I said so) especially when eating together with the bun.
Tomato soup.
Right after the soup, our main course came.
My lamb chop. Normal. Not bad, and not good either. The sauce was some kind of sweet & sour sauce, with some spiciness in it, where you can get it almost anywhere. Nothing special.
FMS lamb chop for me.
For ahKam and Irene’s chicken chop, it tasted abit overcooked as the meat is quite stiff. Not to mention, the sauce for the chicken is the same sauce for my lamb chop, how pathetic is that.
FMS chicken chop for them.
As usual, we got a dessert of the day for our set dinner. It was a fruit cocktail topped with their homemade corn icec ream. Not that I want to criticize, but if you can’t make a good ice cream, go and buy. The ice cream was basically too floury, and it couldn’t get harden.
When the ice cream was served, it’s has ran out of shape, and the ice cream acted like cream, melted as my spoon was nearing them. Probably it’s because the ice cream was afraid of my spoon. *lame*
Now you know why I love the tomato soup so much?
Anyway, I think that if FMS wants to continue survive for another 10 years, they seriously need to change their business plan.
The only thing I like about the shop is the nice nice Teresa Tang song that was played throughout my dinner. It was pretty romantic.
Love this shot.
So, until someone force me to visit FMS, or FMS has improved, that’s my last visit for FMS. Heeehe.

People always complained about my food post makes them hungry, and just feel like punching me cause I keep “seducing” them with delicious food pic.
Today the photohunter finally come out with a topic that suits me most, but of course I don’t want to make everyone pissed off at me again, so I will only post up a delicious dessert from IceIceBaby Cafe, called Baby Sundae.
Multi-layered Baby Sundae!
Want to know how delicious? Look at my face..
I love fresh cream!!!
HAHAH!

Continue from my previous post..
I think I showed too little pictures on my previous post. Do understand that I was kinda tired for the day, that’s why only little pictures up for you to eat imagine and drool.
I am missing the abalone strips. They tasted so much more “abalone” then those in can. *Sayonara to those canned abalone* I love it, and mum loves it too! Both of us took like more then 30 slices LOL!

Aa-Ber-Lon.
The abalone surprisingly comes from the Japanese food corner, and there’s where I got the salmon, unagis and this mini marinated squids, and also the green beans, and also the japanese vege.. and all!

I don’t eat squid, but I eat this. Ironic.
Tired of those ready cooked ones? You can have them to fry the prawns, mini lobster, and fishes for you in different style like bean paste or tomyam.
*Sorry for the blur pic*

Fresh pan fried seafoods.
When I see this dimsum corner, I almost lost my appetite because I always thinks that dim sum = prawns and meat smashed and mix together to be steamed. But, yes it’s a BUT. But I took a “siu mai” from mum’s plate, wow, they tasted great. I thank mum for not make me missing such nice food.
*sorry for the blur pic, again*

Oriental dimsum.
The salad bar was usual, except for the raw beef, and a super delicious coleslaw. Woot!

You know, I feel these foods wasted the space in my stomach.
Sushis anyone? I can let you try if you want, cause I haven’t tasted anyone of them. *No rice during buffet*

Sushis.
The dessert bar was still as awesome. This time I got no space in my stomach to try those good-looking-cute dessert, I now go for only cakes, and chocolate fondue! Compared to my last visit, they added dried apple, papaya, and pineapple. Still, I prefer honeydew being chocolate-d.

Cakes and fruits, with a nice ice sculpture.

I still missed their chocolate a lot.
Even the ice cream tasted so good!

I decorated my ice-crream! Nice bo?
Apart then just eating, the decoratives are impressing, especially this 2 ice sculptured eagle. Under their wings is whereI could get those *sacred* raw oyster, lobster and crabs. I almost thought that I was in food heaven for a second.

The eagles are sweating..
They even use those big-sized bottles to put in different kinds of candies, and it’s all EATABLE!

Candies for kids, and for me!
Another bonus for the buffet team is their service. Damn they are fast. I walk out from my table and the second I am back, the plates are gone!
Furthermore, we requested for chinese tea, peppermint tea too! (Not to mention the number of times my dad asked them to change the tea leaves and refill the teapot)
Aha speaking of drinking, they have got fresh fruit juices! Not one, not two, but almost 6-8 different kind of fruit juices!
What I like is that I can mix among the juices, for instance orange+pineapple+manggo = Soothing Tropical fruit juice. My advice, don’t add too much grapefruit, orelse it would be bitter.

Orange, apple, grapefruit, guave, pineapple, tomato, and …
Now, finished with the eating part. I guess you are quite eager to know the price right? It’s not cheap, it’s RM87++, but I can anytime guarantee, the price is very reasonable for all the good food they have prepared. Everything is good.
Oh ya, one thing I like about their waiter and waitress are they are well trained and well mannered. When my camera’s up to snap some pictures, they will automatically move away. So nice of them..
